As Chair of the Community Development/Human Resources Committee (1996 and 1997), provided oversight for departments with combined operating and grants budgets totaling over $250 million. Also served on Finance/Executive, Zoning, Transportation, and Public Safety. Led a collaborative effort with residents, businesses, nonprofits, city staff, and two community colleges to launch and complete a redevelopment plan for a low-income commercial corridor, former Stewart Avenue; secured funding and changed the street name to Metropolitan Parkway
